  • Body Condition Score to show
Research has shown that health complications, such as heat stress, stress of traveling, and showing can be exacerbated at low body condition scores. Due to concerns for animal welfare and the objective to educate and promote quality animal husbandry; horses, ponies and/or mules shall not be shown with a body condition score of 2 or less based on the Henneke scale. Horses with a score of 3 will be evaluated at judges/show managements discretion if they will be allowed to show. If you have questions about the body condition score of your horse, or if you are not sure your horse will pass inspection, please contact Show Management representative before the show you intend to enter. The Judge and/or show management will assess animals in question. If there is a thin horse, the Judge and/or show management will make a final decision whether or not to disqualify the animal. No refund will be given for a horse that is shown/attempted to be shown with a body score of 3 or less. If a horse appears to be emaciated show management has the right to notify local authorities in the best interest of the horse.
